Rimmel Stay Matte Liquid Mouse Foundation

Hi guys, so today I am reviewing the Rimmel Stay Matte Foundation. It is very light weight and very easy to use and blend. I was sent this foundation complimentary by influenster. I love how light and creamy it feels. I have been wearing this foundation for a week now and I haven't seen any breakouts or blemishes. They sent me the foundation in the color "true ivory". I have a yellow undertone and at first when I applied it, it was a little too light or "green undertoned" but once it set it blended very well. I will be repurchasing this foundation in the correct color. It has a true matte finish and it doesn't make me oily. I recommend it for all skin types. My skin type is combination-oily and dry and I am very sensitive to certain products. I am not sure if this foundation is non-comodogenic. It didn't break me out so I am assuming it is. I am so glad that I have found a foundation to supplement the Mac Studio Fix. I feel as if the Rimmel Stay Matte has a build-a-ble coverage. I would definately wear this during the hotter days and wear a heavier foundation at night if I was going out. This prodict receives a 10 for day time foundaiont and a 7 for night time. I hope this was very helpful. Love you guys XOXO

Giovanni Direct Leave in Review

Okay, so many of you have heard of the Giovanni Direct Leave in through social media i.e. YouTube. If you haven't heard of this product, it has been a rave for the past year. A few months ago I decided to try it and now I am giving my initial review on it. This product definitely has GOOD slip and a little goes A LONG way and I mean it literally. This product is pretty moisturizing and gives pretty good definition. I liked it the first few times I used it but I did notice that it tends to foam and a quarter size really covers my whole head, and it left a film. The smell is okay, and overall for $8 its a pretty good product. It states that it is for all hair types, but in the "curly world" it has been all the rave. The thing about this product it works well ALONE. Its a product that is amazing for a "fluffy", light-weight, and soft wash n go. Although, it gives you the BIG hair results first day of shampooing or co-washing, this product did not give me 3rd and 4th day hair like DevaCurl does. So with me saying that in my opinion I prefer the flat first day hair and the BIG 2, 3, and 4 day hair. I did notice a little bit of frizz but it could be from the way I applied the product. Overall, I give the product an 8. Which is pretty good in my book.
Here are the results of my wash n go with just the Direct Leave In:

Dealing with Curly, Coarse, and Low porosity hair during the colder months

Hey Guys, so today I want to talk about CURLY, COARSE, and LOW POROSITY hair. First off, I'd like to say my hair is all three. I have been dealing with this since I transitioned from heat and color damage. I'd like to inform those who have been looking and looking for info about what I have been struggling with, also. As most can see my hair is naturally curly, my texture is really coarse and dry to touch. On top of that, I have LOW porosity hair making it almost impossible to keep my hair moisturized, and everyone knows dry hair leads to breakage and unwanted damage. I have read numerous blogs and seen numerous youtube videos about this. It is ALL trial and error for the most part. Low porosity simply means your hair repels moisture and the cuticle is tight. The way you can see if you have Low porosity is to take a bowl and fill it with lukewarm water, take a few shed hairs and let it sit for at least two minutes and see what happens. If it just sits there or just wiggles around and doesn't sink you have LOW porosity hair, meaning you have a hard time moisturizing and hair is dry to touch. If it sinks slowly to the bottom you have MEDIUM(normal) porosity hair meaning the hair is usually almost easily moisturized. If the hair sinks instantly to the bottom it means your hair is HIGH porosity meaning you cuticle is almost always open meaning it won't hold water. So back to LOW porosity, low porosity needs more moisture meaning more maintenance and more "deep conditioning" but be careful because usually low porosity doesn't take well to HIGH PROTEIN conditioners. This simply means hot oil treatments and water based conditioners are your friends. I almost have to deep condition every time I shampoo or co-wash. By the way, co-washing may not be good for Low porosity hair simply because the cuticle is always closed and shampoo is what opens the cuticle, co-washing will cause the conditioner just to sit there on top of your hair and create product build up. My solution for this is heat, yes I said it HEAT. No, NO, not flat irons and curling irons or direct heat but a hooded dryer or bonnet dryer, when deep conditioning or co-washing sit under the hood dryer or bonnet dryer to open the cuticle to get the moisture inside of the hair shaft. Although, I love co-washing I had to cut back because after all my research and frequent question asking, I noticed that if I co-wash with protein rich or silicone based conditioners my hair would be limp and have product build up. Ladies and gents, I know you probably think I am crazy, but don't knock what you haven't tried. Also, I always have to have an oil in my regimen simply creams and leave ins don't always do the job with moisture, and like I said before "lack of moisture, leads to breakage". This took a lot of research and a lot of trial and error and I am still looking for the perfect regimen. I found a summer regimen but the winter regimen is simply always "under construction". I have a list of moisturizers that I love and I will post them on this blog. Also, sulfate free products will be your best friend especially with shampooing. That is pretty much all and I hope this will help a lot of you all. Thanks for reading, xoxoxoxo -Jas
PS:Make sure all products you purchase are water based (water is the 1 or 2 ingredient), has good not bad alcohols, and is sulfate and silicone free..

My Curly Staples

Hey My Curlies!! Many people always ask what products I consider my staples and what do I use on a daily and weekly basis. First off let me say, all curly hair and hair period are different. We may have curl twins or curl friends that use completely different products and get the same results. To each their own. When you find what works for you stick to it by all means. First you need to learn about porosity (the ability to absorb moisture). Some have normal, some have high, and some have low. Me, myself I have normal porosity. My hair accepts moisture pretty well. It also depends if your hair is color treated or what climate you live in. Reminder that Im speaking on behalf of curlies who are natural (not permed or texturized) because that is a different ball field. As far as my maintence of my curly hair, I basically have a simple regimen. I stick to what I love. I have three routines... okay lets get started!
Summer Routine:
(As I Am Co-conut Co-wash and DevaCurl Low Poo)
(One condition and Suave Naturals Coconut)
Conditioner (1egg, honey, coconut oil, and any conditioner)
Oil Treatment (honey and coconut oil melted)
Leave in (One Condition)
(DevaCurl Light defining gel)
how I apply:
I shampoo only my scalp 1-2 times a week depending on if I have been in the beach, pool, or what activities I partake in. Then I go ahead and condition or deep condition. I deep condition on the conditions of my hair, could be 2-4 times a month I allow my conditioner to set between 20-60 minutes. I also do a hot oil treatment once a month, I allow it to set for 20-30 minutes. Then I continue to add my Leave in and styler in sections. I scrunch my ends with a cotton t-shirt and allow to air dry. Usually, my hair dries with volume but depending on the humidity I use a pick to lift my roots.
Winter Routine:
Shampoo(DevaCurl No Poo)
(One Condition and Aussie 3 min miracle)
Conditioner (mayo, coconut oil, honey, avocado, and any conditioner)
In (Kinky Curly Knot Today)
(Curls Whipped Cream)
How I apply:
I shampoo and condition the same as summer. Then I deep condition, apply my leave in and styler, and allow to air dry for a day. I usually get amazing definition with this routine. I live in the south so I usualy still have a bit of humidity so volume has never really been a problem for me.
Wash n Go routine: As far as my wash n go's I usually apply any leave in and styler usually the devacurl styling cream and I go. I dont diffuse at all. I never get great results with a diffuser and when I do those results only last a day. Its all a personal preference.
Alright my curlfriends, this here pretty much sums up my staples and how I apply my products. I do own a lot of products and I do use different ones but these are the ones I will continue to purchase and always use. I hope you enjoy!! : Instagram
